It was around 2008 when my brother gave me a call and told me he has been doing Crossfit as a way to train for his marathons. After a few minutes of listening to his seemingly frantic explanation of Crossfit, I realized half of what I was hearing was not about the workout. He was more obsessed with the people he was working out with and the community surrounding Crossfit. He started lecturing me, a certified personal trainer, on working out and proper diet. This, in many ways, got my interest and I wanted to see what it was about.
It wasn’t long after that conversation that I started incorporating Crossfit type programming with my clients. After a couple of years of doing this, watching the Crossfit Games on ESPN, listening to my brother rave about how it has transformed him and his running, I had another revelation, this is what I wanted to do. I want to be a part of a movement that is working on transforming and energizing people. I want to help people make fitness a part of their day to day routine as is waking up in the morning.
